Patch Notes — Multiplayer
Multiplayer is here: party play, shared notes, and NPCs that level up with your party.
Hey everyone!
This has been a big one — almost three weeks of work went into this update, and it's all in service of one thing: multiplayer. You can now adventure with friends instead of going it alone.
Multiplayer
You can now create a party and adventure together in real time. Start a world, share the lobby with friends, and everyone plays through the same story side by side — same chat, same combat, same consequences.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lobbies — start a world and invite friends in with a shareable link before the adventure begins
- Party size limits — lobbies are capped based on your subscription tier to a max of 4 while we continue testing larger parties
- Leaving a party — leaving removes you from the party and turns your character into an NPC, instead of tearing down the whole game for everyone else still playing
- Downed players — if your character falls in combat, your turns are automatically passed so the rest of the party can keep going without getting stuck waiting on you.
- Real initiative for everyone — combat now rolls individual initiative for every player and allows enemies to attack when combat begins, instead of players always going first.
- Host & player settings — world settings are host-only, and others can be adjusted per player, so everyone can tune their own experience without stepping on anyone else's
- Message limit — the whole party plays on the host's message limit

This is the first real version of multiplayer, so treat it as an early season. I've been playtesting it heavily, but with a system change of this size there are going to be rough edges I haven't hit yet. Please report anything that feels broken or off.
NPCs Level Up With Your Party
Companion NPCs now have their own XP and level up automatically instead of staying fixed, so their progression will more closely match yours as you get stronger.
Shared Party Notes
Parties share their notes doc together during your adventure. This is great for tracking quest details, plans, or anything else you don't want to lose in the scroll of messages. Notes autosave as you type and stay in sync for everyone in the party when they refresh.
Bug Fixes & UI Improvements
Various bug fixes and UI improvements throughout, mostly shaken loose from playtesting multiplayer over the past few weeks. Thanks for all the reports!
What's Next
Multiplayer is live but it's not done. Here's what's next:
- Stabilizing multiplayer — fixing what actually breaks in real party play, plus polishing the rough edges I already know about
- Story & combat depth — continuing to build those out, along with small fixes I've run across while playtesting
- Tier adjustments — free and subscription tiers may shift slightly as I work on long-term stability and costs with a growing player count. Anyone already subscribed will never have their existing subscription changed on them, and I'll always announce any changes ahead of time so everyone gets an equal chance to lock in a subscription long term
As always, thank you for playing. If anything feels off or broken, especially with multiplayer, please let me know — every bit of feedback helps.
Thanks everyone!
