Patch Notes — June 27, 2026
Dice rolling animations, background ambience, a new start flow, and a wave of UI polish.
Hey everyone!
This update focuses on immersion and the new-player experience: animated dice rolls, background ambience during gameplay, and a brand new start flow. There's also a fresh look for the login and registration pages, along with a lot of smaller polish throughout.
Dice Rolling
Skill checks now play out through an animated dice roll before the DM responds.
The dice have a full rolling animation with a shake effect on failures, so you feel the outcome before you read it. Audio plays alongside the roll, with different sounds for success and failure.
This is something I've wanted to add for a while. It makes the randomness in the game feel more tangible and dramatic, and it gives the AI's response a moment to breathe before it arrives.

Background Ambience
Ambient audio now plays during gameplay to help set the mood.
I looked at adding music during gameplay but found it too distracting for the music I had, so ambience felt like the right fit for now. Music may come to the platform in some form in the future, but for this release the focus was on subtle atmosphere rather than a full soundtrack. I'll be adding new ambience tracks regularly as the library grows.
Audio can be controlled from the audio settings if you prefer to play without it.
New Start Flow
New players now have a proper introduction when they arrive for the first time. Head to farlandsodyssey.com/start to check it out.
The new flow guides you into the game more gently and plays audio during the loading and start experience to set the tone before you jump in.
Returning players won't notice a difference; the change is specifically for first-time arrivals.
Login & Registration Redesign
The login and registration pages have been given a new look, with a focus on being cleaner and easier to use. Other pages will be getting similar treatment in future updates.

Other Changes
- AI Memory — improved long term memory tracking to better keep track of what matters and leave out what doesn't, so stories stay focused and relevant over long adventures
Bug Fixes & UI Improvements
Various bug fixes and UI improvements throughout the game. I know I say this every time but it really is important ongoing work. Thanks for all the reports!
What's Next
The next focus is on improving and enhancing existing systems. Some things I'm looking into:
- Campaign Summary — as your adventures get longer it can be hard to keep track of everything that's happened. I'd love to build something that keeps a running record of the story. This was a feature a few of you suggested as your adventures get longer.
- Auto Narration — automatic narration for subscribers, so the story can be read aloud without having to press play each time.
- Player Notes — a place to jot down your own notes during a session, so you can keep track of things that matter to you.
I'm also planning to look deeper into story depth and the combat system in the coming patches.
As always, thank you for playing. If anything feels off or broken, please let me know, every bit of feedback helps.
Thanks everyone!
