Patch Notes — June 15, 2026

Hey everyone!

The latest update is now live. This release focuses on improving the new-player experience, adding optional narration, and cleaning up a number of rough edges throughout the game.

New Starter World: Farlands Odyssey

New players now have access to The Farlands Odyssey, a starter world designed to make jumping into an adventure much easier.

The world includes:

  • Six pre-created characters — jump in without spending time on character creation
  • Starting equipment — each character comes geared up and ready to go
  • Class-specific skills — abilities tuned to each class's playstyle
  • Class-specific spells — spell loadouts matched to each caster's role

The goal is to make it easy to start a fantasy adventure immediately while also showcasing some of the different character creation options available.

Narration

Messages from the DM now have an optional narration button so you can listen to the story instead of reading it.

This is the first version of the feature. Additional voices and optional auto-narration are planned for future updates.

Message Action Bar

Message action bar showing feedback and context controls

Messages now have a dedicated action bar containing:

  • Feedback buttons — thumbs up/down to rate DM responses
  • Narration controls — play, pause, and stop for the new narration feature
  • Context usage — optional token usage and subscription limit display for players who want that information

The entire action bar can be hidden using the Chat Display setting if you prefer a cleaner look.

Custom World Cover Images

You can now upload your own images for world covers.

Leveling Improvements

Leveling has been reworked to be more guided and consistent. The system should now do a better job of helping players understand their choices while reducing confusion during level-up events.

If anything feels confusing, too restrictive, or less fun than before, please let me know — this is an area I'll continue iterating on.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where character names could change unexpectedly
  • Fixed feedback popups appearing multiple times — popups should now only appear once per account
  • Improved NPC party member portrait generation reliability
  • Fixed several smaller bugs and UI inconsistencies throughout the game

I've also published a new guide covering RPG terminology and an introduction to the Farlands Odyssey starter world.

What's Next

Thanks to everyone who has been upvoting and downvoting messages — your feedback has already been useful. I noticed today that there are some inconsistencies in the way I manage chat history alongside other context, which can cause the DM to behave unexpectedly. I already have a few ideas on how to fix this, so expect a patch within the next few days.

I've also been setting up music during gameplay and improvements to the play experience. Some of those features are showing promise but need more time before they're ready to release.

As always, thank you for playing and for all the feedback you've provided so far. If you run into memory issues, frustrating behavior, or anything that just doesn't feel quite right, please let me know — every report helps make Farlands Odyssey better.

Thanks everyone!
